
Researchers developed a 'locked' cancer therapeutic called Pro-LYTAC that activates only within tumor cells, significantly reducing tumor size in mice during a two-week study.
The treatment uses glutathione, a peptide found in high concentrations in tumors, as a molecular switch to target proteins that help cancer cells evade the immune system.
The study, published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, showed the therapeutic avoided accumulating in the liver, suggesting a potential path toward safer cancer treatments with fewer side effects.
