The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to entertain a Public Interest Litigation filed by the Universal Health Organisation challenging the implementation of the government-backed HPV vaccination campaign.
A Bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant orally observed that the PIL was filed with an ulterior motive and lacked bona fides.
The petitioner's counsel was permitted to withdraw the petition after clarifying that the plea raised issues concerning the lack of an adverse-event mechanism and compensation scheme rather than the vaccine itself.
