The Finance Ministry extended the import duty exemption on cotton until December 31, 2026, providing relief to the domestic textile industry.
The exemption, initially granted in May, was set to expire before being prolonged through a notification issued on Friday, October 30, 2026.
The extension comes as poor Southwest monsoon conditions have impacted the cotton crop, keeping daily market arrivals low despite the start of the marketing season.
