NCRB Data Shows Cybercrime Rose 17.9% Nationally in 2024

National Crime Records Bureau data indicates that registered cybercrime cases rose 17.9 percent nationally to 1,01,928 in 2024, contrasting with an overall decline in registered crimes.

A study by Lokniti-CSDS and Common Cause revealed that over 46 percent of high online usage respondents reported frequent exposure to digital scams.

The survey found that financial fraud victims were disproportionately concentrated among wealthier and more educated respondents, with 59 percent of college graduates reporting victimization.
