OpenAI closed an initial $11 billion funding round valuing the company at $1.25 trillion, with funds wired to the company on Friday.
The round could increase up to $20 billion in coming weeks, following earlier talks to raise over $30 billion before scaling back plans.
Contributors to the first close include Coatue Management and T. Rowe Price, alongside investors like SoftBank, Sequoia Capital, and Founders Fund.
