India voted in favour of a UN General Assembly resolution calling for an end to the U.S. embargo against Cuba, stating the restrictions hinder the Caribbean nation's development aspirations.
The 193-member General Assembly adopted the non-binding resolution with 130 countries voting in favour, 17 against, and 25 abstaining during Wednesday's session.
India's statement highlighted that Cuba's health system faces shortages of over 60% of essential medicines and food production has declined by more than 50% in five years.
