An informal gold mine shaft collapsed in Oni, a remote area in Sudan's Red Sea state, killing at least 11 miners and injuring 30 others.
A state-owned Sudanese Mineral Resources Co. official confirmed 30 individuals were rescued while search operations continued under the debris for missing miners.
This incident marks the second informal gold mine collapse in Sudan within a week, following a western disaster that killed at least 82 people.
