Brian Jones, an 86-year-old resident of Cwmbran, achieved a grade C in his GCSE mathematics exam on August 20, 2026, seven decades after his initial failure in 1956.
Jones studied through the Torfaen Adult Community Learning program for 32 weeks, attending weekly classes alongside younger students to keep his mind active after retiring from his board commitments.
Following his success, the grandfather of three has already enrolled in a GCSE English course and plans to continue his education despite his niece's suggestion that he is too old for sixth form.
