Key NDA partners TDP and Shiv Sena backed Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on Tuesday that a Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in all NDA-ruled States before 2029.
The TDP with 16 Lok Sabha MPs and the Shiv Sena with 13 support the move, while the JD(U) stated it will study the Bill and will not oppose it without reason.
CPI(M) state secretary V. Srinivas Rao claimed the BJP is using UCC politics to divert attention from unemployment, and J&K CM Omar Abdullah urged introducing the Bill in Parliament.
