Severe cyclonic storm Murasu moved west-north-westwards at 25 kmph, heading towards the coast of Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh.
The storm is forecast to cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur near Ongole with wind speeds of 100 to 110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph.
Chennai Airport reported the cancellation of at least eleven flights operating to destinations including Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Kadapa and Tiruchirappalli due to adverse weather conditions.
