Moderna officially began its first human clinical trial for a Bundibugyo Ebola vaccine on August 6, following approval from Canadian health authorities.
The trial aims to assess the safety and immune response of the mRNA-based vaccine, which is being developed to combat the specific strain currently causing outbreaks in the DRC.
The WHO has welcomed the development, noting that rapid vaccine research is critical to containing the surging Ebola crisis in Central Africa.
