India exports 500 tonnes of hilsa fish to Bangladesh

India exported approximately 500 tonnes of hilsa fish to Bangladesh over the past two months to help meet domestic shortages in a rare trade reversal.

Traders expect an additional 150 to 200 tonnes to be shipped from India in the coming weeks.

The consignments were sourced mainly from Gujarat and shipped via the Bharuch port and the Howrah wholesale fish market in West Bengal.
