Delhi Government Orders Safety Audits for Buildings Over 50 Years Old

Following the tragic collapse of a five-storey PG building in Satya Niketan that killed seven people, the Delhi government mandated immediate safety audits for all structures older than 50 years.

The magisterial probe into the incident, which occurred on September 5, 2026, will investigate structural negligence and building code violations in the densely populated student hub.

Authorities have initiated a sealing drive in the area, forcing the evacuation of 40 female occupants from a nearby PG facility deemed unsafe by municipal inspectors.
