
Four first-year BTech students from IIT Hyderabad represented India at the TECO International Contest 2026 in Taiwan and won the excellence award among 267 global entries.
Mentored by faculty member Dr Ashish Kulkarni and aided by startup Pavakah Energy, the students developed thin-film perovskite solar cells capable of operating in hot, humid conditions.
Despite logistical challenges involving chemicals transported in their luggage and unexpected transit contamination, the team successfully presented their research before judges.
