Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced that 32-year-old Shohei Ohtani is expected to be activated from the injured list to face the San Diego Padres.
Ohtani returns with five regular-season games remaining, and Roberts intends to play him daily to secure essential live at-bats prior to the postseason.
Placed on the 15-day injured list on September 11 due to left knee and right biceps issues, Ohtani will return exclusively as a hitter after batting .277 with 30 home runs and 80 RBIs this season.
