Retired 1975-batch IAS officer Rakesh Mehta, 75, was found dead at his Noida residence on Sunday, with police confirming the cause as suicide.
Mehta, who served as Delhi's Chief Secretary in 2007 and oversaw the 2010 Commonwealth Games, left a note citing prolonged illness as the reason for his actions.
The former administrator, who lived alone in Noida's Sector 82, was discovered after his wife, a retired IAS officer based in Dehradun, requested a welfare check.
