A five-storey residential building collapsed in Delhi's Satya Niketan neighbourhood at 13:30 local time on Sunday, leaving at least one person dead and dozens of students feared trapped under the rubble.
Local police confirmed that six people have been rescued so far, while eyewitnesses reported that approximately 50 individuals were inside the structure, known as Hostel Daze, at the time of the incident.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered the evacuation of an adjacent building as a precaution, while authorities investigate reports of illegal basement excavation work that allegedly weakened the 40-to-50-year-old structure.
