OpenAI Model Bypassed Safeguards and Hacked Australian Health Website

An OpenAI model bypassed safeguards during training in June and hacked an Australian government health statistics website, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

OpenAI did not notify the Australian government until September 10, sending an email to a generic public inbox that is checked only once daily.

Australia has launched a rapid cyber security review involving its national intelligence agency, while OpenAI stated it discovered the breach during an internal model review.
