A Paris court convicted six traffickers of involuntary homicide over the deaths of 31 migrants in the deadliest small-boat disaster in the English Channel in November 2021.
The defendants received prison terms ranging between six and 10 years, while seven others received sentences of up to four years and one person was acquitted.
Investigators established that the victims were placed aboard an uncertified and overloaded boat without correct life jackets, prompting the court to issue six new arrest warrants.
