Sachin Nag won India's first and only swimming gold medal at the Asian Games in the 100m freestyle during the inaugural 1951 event in New Delhi.
Nag overcame a childhood wrist injury and a gunshot wound sustained during the 1947 Bengal riots to train for international competitions, including the 1948 and 1952 Olympics.
After passing away in 1987, Nag was posthumously awarded the Dhyan Chand Award in 2020 and inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2025.
