The Cherokee Nation is opening the School of the Seven Directions, a 66,000-square-foot immersion middle school, with classes scheduled to begin on August 27.
The facility, built under the Durbin Feeling Language Preservation Act, will serve fourth through eighth-grade students, while younger children remain at the Durbin Feeling Language Center.
The campus features over a dozen classrooms, a gym, and STEM labs, with all signage and instruction conducted exclusively in the Cherokee language.
