India achieved an 80% decline in malaria cases and deaths between 2015 and 2025, with 160 districts reporting zero indigenous cases during the 2022-2025 period.
The number of high-burden districts has decreased from 155 to 33, with these remaining areas accounting for 64% of total cases and 54% of malaria deaths in 2025.
Additional Secretary Aradhana Patnaik confirmed that the government is intensifying the 'Test, Treat and Track' strategy across nine states to meet the national goal of eliminating malaria by 2030.
