Northeast Ministers Call for Hilly-Area Specific NEP 2020 Norms

Education ministers at the Northeast Education Conclave 2026 called for a region-specific approach to implementing NEP 2020.

Mizoram Education Minister Dr Vanlalthlana noted that government schools account for 80 percent of Nagaland's schools but only 33 percent of enrollment.

Ministers discussed the need for separate construction norms and indices suited to hilly terrains across northeastern states.
