THE BRIEF
1

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation plans to overhaul its Periodic Labour Force Survey starting in January to better represent digital platform and gig workers.

2

The updated survey will ask households whether any member worked with digital platforms like Ola, Uber, Zomato, Amazon, and Urban Company over the past 365 days.

3

MoSPI also aims to measure the scope of unpaid domestic and caregiving work, noting that a 2024 Time Use Survey showed women spend over four-and-a-half hours daily compared to 37 minutes for men.
