Nepal Flash Floods Death Toll Reaches 1,204 With Thousands Missing

Devastating flash floods along the China-Nepal border have killed at least 1,204 people in Nepal, with 4,216 individuals still reported missing as of September 2, 2026.

Chinese state media reported an additional 21 deaths and 541 missing in Tibet, bringing the total regional toll from the August 26 disaster to 1,225 dead and 4,757 missing.

Nepal is planning to rebuild an early-warning system at the Timure border settlement in Rasuwa district, installing seismic sensors and satellite links to mitigate future landslide risks.
