BRICS Summit 2026 begins in New Delhi with key leaders arriving

The BRICS Summit kicks off in New Delhi on September 12, with Russian President Vladimir Putin arriving early Friday and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian departing Tehran to attend the two-day event.

Putin's attendance marks his first in-person participation at a BRICS summit outside Russia since the war in Ukraine began in February 2022, with bilateral discussions expected with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding defence matters.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the BRICS Business Forum, highlighting India's expanding manufacturing capabilities, large market, deep talent pool, and strong digital ecosystem to contribute to future economic cooperation.
