Filmmaker Shakeel Noorani Arrested for Alleged Rape in Mumbai

Mumbai Police arrested filmmaker Shakeel Noorani at his Mahabaleshwar farmhouse on August 9 after he evaded authorities for 40 days following rape and intimidation allegations from a 33-year-old actor.

Noorani, known for directing 'Joru Ka Ghulam' and 'Bade Dilwala', is booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections including 64(2)(m) for rape and 351(2) for criminal intimidation.

The complainant alleges Noorani spiked her drink at his Malvani residence, sexually assaulted her over four years, and caused a miscarriage through poisoning; he remains in police custody until August 12.
