Assam Flood Death Toll Reaches 89 With 1.22 Lakh Affected

The flood situation in Assam remains critical on August 5, 2026, as the death toll rose to 89 with over 1.22 lakh people impacted across five districts.

The Dhansiri river at Numaligarh in Golaghat district continues to flow in a severe flood state, while 55 relief camps currently shelter 17,857 displaced individuals across the affected regions.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda is scheduled to visit the flood-hit areas today to review relief operations, which have already submerged 15,342.92 hectares of agricultural land and affected 26,575 domestic animals.
