Union Health Ministry Proposes CCTV at Medical Stores

The Union Health Ministry has proposed making CCTV surveillance mandatory at licensed premises selling prescription drugs under proposed amendments to the Drugs Rules, 1945.

Draft notification G.S.R. 791(E), issued on September 8, requires CCTV recordings of prescription drug sales to be preserved for at least three months.

The regulatory move aims to strengthen oversight and provide a verification mechanism in cases of suspected unauthorized sale of prescription medicines.
