Chief Justice of India Surya Kant will inaugurate the first permanent bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in Leh on 18 October.
The bench aims to provide judicial relief to residents of remote areas, eliminating the need to travel to Srinagar or Jammu for writ petitions.
The establishment follows a government regulation promulgated in August and is described by Ladakh officials as a significant, unilateral administrative initiative.
