Google Withdraws AI Image Tool from Google Earth

Google has rolled back its AI image generation feature in Google Earth after users utilized the tool to create images of disasters and explosions.

The company stated on July 31 that the feature was removed to implement stronger guardrails after screenshots of policy-violating imagery were shared online.

While Google noted that geospatial professionals used the tool for legitimate purposes, the feature was pulled to protect the platform's reputation for providing a reliable view of the world.
