Senior IAS officer Mandeep K. Bhandari has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Bhandari, a 2001 batch AGMUT cadre officer currently serving as Principal Secretary to the J&K Lieutenant Governor, replaces Lokhande Prashant Sitaram.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment following an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel.
