Study Explores Sildenafil's Potential to Slow Cancer Metastasis

A study published in the journal Cancer Research suggests that sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, may help inhibit cancer metastasis by trapping cholesterol within cancer cell lysosomes.

Researchers observed that the drug reduced the ability of cancer cells to migrate in mouse and human models, though they emphasize it is not a replacement for standard treatments.

Experts caution that findings are currently limited to preclinical laboratory experiments and that extensive human clinical trials are required before the drug can be repurposed for oncology.
