The Ministry of Home Affairs demography panel launched a portal on Tuesday to collect input from citizens, government bodies, NGOs, and international organisations on demographic changes in India.
The committee seeks data on changes observed preferably post-2011, noting that shifts driven by illegal immigration and other factors affect public service delivery and social cohesion.
The panel, chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge Prakash Prabhakar Naolekar, will use the submissions to recommend a system for identifying and deporting illegal immigrants.
