Iran Rejects US Claims of Control Over Strait of Hormuz

Iran's military command rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's claim of "total control" over the Strait of Hormuz, asserting the strategic waterway remains under full Iranian management.

Spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari stated on August 13, 2026, that no commercial vessel can pass through the strait without permission and supervision from Iranian armed forces.

U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed on the same day that the U.S. Navy intends to maintain a blockade on Iranian ports indefinitely by rotating ships.
