Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in India on Saturday for the first time in seven years to attend the BRICS Summit and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The leaders are scheduled to meet on Saturday evening to assess progress on resolving the dragging border dispute in Ladakh following the October 2024 disengagement understanding.
Bilateral trade between India and China grew from about $93 billion in 2019 to $127 billion in 2025, while India's trade deficit rose from $57 billion to nearly $100 billion.
