Ebola Death Toll Exceeds 3,000 in DR Congo Outbreak

The Democratic Republic of the Congo reported 92 new Ebola cases and 33 deaths in 24 hours, pushing the total death toll past 3,000.

As of September 2, 2026, the country has recorded 6,342 confirmed cases across six provinces, with Ituri province remaining the epicenter at 81.4% of cases.

The current outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo virus, has a 48.4% case fatality rate and is now the country's largest on record.
