The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has banned the sale of hing (asafoetida) powder from Everest and Laljee Godhoo due to sub-standard quality findings.
The regulatory action, announced on August 29, 2026, follows laboratory tests that identified the products as misbranded and non-compliant with national food safety standards.
Both companies have been ordered to immediately recall existing stocks from the market, with the FSSAI initiating further inspections across their manufacturing facilities.
