Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye Sign Defence Pact

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye signed the Mecca Joint Defence Pact on Friday, stipulating that an armed attack against one member is considered an attack against all three.

The alliance is viewed by analysts as a strategic response to regional instability and a lack of trust in U.S. security guarantees following the war on Iran.

The pact includes Turkiye, a vocal critic of Israel's war on Gaza, which has resulted in at least 72,000 Palestinian deaths since October 2023.
