Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Friday that the government will issue a consultation paper on a new Artificial Intelligence law in the coming weeks.
Speaking at the NDTV World Summit in Delhi, Vaishnaw stated that AI risks have crossed a threshold requiring regulation to target harms while keeping humans in control.
The proposed legislation will mark a shift from previous governance guidelines that relied on amendments to existing laws rather than a dedicated statute.
