Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that CIA Director John Ratcliffe held secret talks with Russian intelligence services in Moscow on Wednesday.
The visit, which involved a US military C-17 plane, marks the first such trip by a US spy chief since William Burns met Vladimir Putin in November 2021.
The Kremlin stated that while intelligence contacts occurred, Ratcliffe did not meet with President Putin, and it remains too early to predict improvements in US-Russia relations.
