Hitomi Tanaka became the first Japanese woman to play for an Indian football club, signing for East Bengal in September ahead of the AFC Women's Champions League.
Tanaka made an instant impact by providing an assist in her debut match as East Bengal defeated Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City WFC 2-1 at Salt Lake Stadium.
The victory made East Bengal the first Indian club to win multiple group stage matches in the continental competition.
