WhatsApp users globally reported significant issues sharing multimedia files like photos, videos, and GIFs on August 10, 2026, while text messaging remained functional for many.
Downdetector data indicated that 41 percent of complaints involved messaging, 40 percent related to app performance, and 13 percent concerned notifications across countries including India, the UK, and Brazil.
Despite users attempting to restart devices and reinstall the app, the disruption persisted, and Meta had not issued an official statement regarding the cause of the multimedia upload failures.
