Somali Referee Omar Artan to Officiate UEFA Super Cup

Somali referee Omar Artan will officiate the UEFA Super Cup match between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa this Wednesday.

The 34-year-old was previously denied entry to the United States for the World Cup in June after officials alleged he was associated with suspected terrorist organisations.

UEFA's appointment of Artan follows an April agreement with the Confederation of African Football and occurs amid ongoing tensions between UEFA and FIFA over private investment plans.
