TMC Rebels Meet Amit Shah Over Bengal Loudspeaker Removal Row

Three rebel TMC MPs met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday to submit a memorandum regarding police pressure on mosques to remove loudspeakers used for the azan.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari defended the action as implementation of court-mandated noise pollution rules, stating 5,299 loudspeakers have been removed from mosques and temples across the state.

The rules mandate a sound limit of 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night, with police instructed to ensure compliance without acting forcefully.
