Principal Shelters Students After Hostel Collapse in Satya Niketan

Professor Vajala Ravi, principal of Sri Venkateswara College, opened campus classrooms to shelter nearly 70 students displaced by a building collapse in Satya Niketan on September 6, 2026.

The college provided food, water, medical supplies, and mental health support to the students, with the principal remaining on-site throughout the night.

The incident highlights a broader crisis at Delhi University, where only 17-19 of over 80 colleges offer hostel facilities for a student body that is 70% non-local.
