Injured flydubai pilot Smit Machchhar airlifted to Abu Dhabi after cockpit attack

Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar was stabbed by his co-pilot aboard flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv and was airlifted to Abu Dhabi for medical treatment.

The co-pilot attempted to crash the plane before Machchhar opened the cockpit door, enabling passengers and crew to overpower the attacker and land safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

The Gujarat government announced that Machchhar will be awarded the Visisht Gujarat Garima Award for his bravery in saving 174 passengers.
