Student Sues Puyallup School District Over Alleged Wrestling Match Assault

A student and her mother have filed a federal lawsuit against the Puyallup School District, alleging that a transgender athlete sexually assaulted her during a December 2025 wrestling match.

The lawsuit challenges district policies allowing transgender athletes to compete in girls' sports, claiming violations of Title IX protections for biological female athletes.

While Pierce County prosecutors previously declined to file criminal charges, the school's principal and athletic director face separate charges for failing to report the incident for two months.
