Kharge Demands FIR Over 'Purification' Ritual at Haldwani Rally

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written to Rajya Sabha Leader J.P. Nadda, demanding an FIR against those who performed a 'purification' ritual at his August 8, 2026, rally site in Haldwani.

Kharge stated that 24 days have passed since the incident, which he linked to untouchability, without any legal action despite Nadda's previous assurance in the House that the matter would be investigated.

The Congress leader urged Nadda to direct Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to ensure strict action against the individuals and organizations involved in the act.
