Dhanteras features the lesser-known ritual called Yama Deepam, where devotees light a lamp outside their main entrance to honor Lord Yama.
The ritual is traditionally observed at sunset during Pradosh Kaal with the lamp's flame facing south to pray for protection from untimely death.
Spiritual experts suggest chanting the Mrityunjaya Mantra 11 times and reciting the Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam during the observance.
